working with children.

Additionally, the Curriculum Center provides resources to keep your classroom creatively informed during holidays and even for current events.

I can go through as many classroom management classes as I want; I can take extra
credits. I can be taught by the best professors in the world, but the only thing that
is really going to prepare me is going into the classroom.
I’m looking to go back to my first love, which was education. When I started
class, I thought it might interfere with my work and school board responsibilities....I
found that it’s enhanced everything.
Duquesne's School of Education prepared me for my first classroom by giving me
the skills I needed not only in teaching children but in helping them grow as individuals.
I felt very prepared for my first job because of the field experiences and professors
at Duquesne.
I am so excited to be back in the classroom & for all the learning ahead! My
favorite part of teaching is building relationships with students & this year, I moved
to a new school in the county, so I can’t wait to get to know all my new firsties
& coworkers.
Duquesne's School of Education has effectively allowed me to make meaningful
relationships with my students and impact them in positive ways. Without the School
of Education, I would have never met some of the amazing students I have.
The School of Education has offered me countless opportunities to explore different
school contexts and cultures, in the Pittsburgh region and even as far as the Navajo
Reservation in New Mexico. Through these experiences, I have honed the skills I need
to be a teacher who can support all students in all spaces.
When I talk to a student who struggles in the classroom, I tell them that they
are capable of anything. Every single person learns differently, and that’s okay.
I selected Duquesne because I felt at home...The people I’ve met so far are so
kind and truly want you to succeed. Duquesne’s Education program and the Curriculum
Center really stood out to me! I want to become a teacher because I’ve always had
a passion for the classroom and believe children deserve a great education.
I am extremely proud to be a two-time Ï㽶ÊÓƵ School of Education
graduate. The experience I had as a student not only prepared me for a successful
career, but instilled deeply rooted values that have enhanced my...leadership over
the past 25 years.
The Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC) recently voted unanimously
to reaccredit the Ï㽶ÊÓƵ Department of Public Safety and grant it the
prestigious Premier Agency status, a designation reserved for only a select few law
enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth.

School of Education's Dr. Christopher Meidl and his students assisted with the reopening of ABK Learning & Development Center. This opportunity aligned with Dr. Meidl's desire to work collaboratively within the Pittsburgh community as part of a socially just and culturally invested approach to the Leading Teacher Program at Duquesne, a main focus of the School of Education's mission. The reopening of the center was celebrated with a visit from Ben Carson, the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
CACREP accreditation indicates that the program has a rigorous curriculum and provides comprehensive fieldwork supervision. Graduates of CACREP programs have greater portability for licensure and certification.

CAEP accreditation nationally recognizes program quality in educator preparation.
